I would like to invite you to participate in my dissertation investigation examining vicarious trauma in American Muslims. Vicarious trauma is something that an individual may experience after being exposed indirectly to trauma through verbal retelling or the media. My goal is to explore the experiences of American Muslims. Participation in the investigation is voluntary and the data collection instrument will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. There are minimal anticipated risks for participating in this investigation and the study will benefit the profession through understanding the experiences of American Muslims.

There is no compensation for participating and you have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without consequence. Data will be collected through online survey. You will be asked about a possible follow up interview. Should you agree, the interview, 20 to 45 minutes in length, will be audio recorded. All the data will be stored on a protected hard drive and only the primary investigator, secondary investigator, and faculty advisor will have access to it. To protect your privacy, pseudonyms will be assigned in all transcripts and written material.

The researcher recommends that you consider taking this in a private location because sensitive questions will be asked. You may also consider clearing your browser history and cookies after completing the survey.

If you are willing to participate in my investigation, please visit this link to review and agree to the informed consent. You may also forward this request to other contacts.
