"Tamara Ayon, a lifelong resident of South Florida since childhood, has always been a steward of justice. Be it as an activist fighting for environmental reform and protecting the everglades since high school, organizing protests against bigoted immigration bills, fighting for veteran rights, medical reform or leading as the Executive Director of the Broward Democratic Party, she always stood for pluralism and for the rights of people to live their lives with dignity and respect. We honor her today as she has brought her passions and knowledge to educate and empower the American Muslim community as the Government Affairs Director for Emerge USA. She has been a leader in the effort to combat bigoted legislation in Tallahassee,  and in voter advocacy efforts to make sure American Muslims are properly represented at the ballot box in our local, State and Federal elections."
