CALL TO ACTION
Your Emerge USA Florida team has been tracking SB86; an economic intimidation bill that infringes on your constitutional right to free speech. SB86 has now passed all of the committees and will be on the Floor this Friday for a vote. There is so much at stake if this bill passes and we are issuing an URGENT CALL TO ACTION to all of you to help prevent bad legislation from passing in Florida.
Inappropriate Use of Public Funds. SB86 intends to use public funds to either invest in or to attack companies who choose to exercise their free speech, as provided in the constitution. Thus, FL taxpayers are all footing the bill while they attack companies that seek to exercise their American right to free speech.
Florida Sanctioned "Blacklist." SB86 calls for a Board to determine who may be participating in their constitutionally protected right to boycott and place them on a "list" that will exclude them from doing business with municipalities and the State. Is this the right way to promote business and free market enterprise in Florida?
Who is on this mysterious "Board," how are they selected and how is this "Board" governed? Inconspicuously, THEY DON'T SAY.
Call the sponsoring legislators and let them know that having a "blacklist" with your tax dollars is not American, not free market economics and you will not be afraid of a government and elected officials that are trying to use fear and economic intimidation to scare you in Tallahassee. You can find the full text of the bill HERE.
REACH OUT TO YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS AND ASK THEM TO VOTE NO ON FRIDAY!
