We are calling on all those who
have ever felt singled out against
and now have the courage
to stand up and be counted.
We have struggled to ensure that every year thousands of people in the United States walk out of their door to polling sites without having to worry about whether or not they are being divided by their race or religion. With your help, we can ensure that Palm Beach County does not change a polling location from the Islamic Center of Boca Raton to the Spanish River Library – just because 50 discriminatory calls were made in regards to the mosque.
With the unnecessary fear and distrust the Muslim community has to face because of rising Islamophobia, actions such as these make it harder to remind the world that real Islam has many good and productive citizens. While many churches and synagogues remain on the polling list, there is no reason why a mosque should be removed from this same list. We cannot stand by while our elected officials succumb to the pressure of outside sources.
If you compromise by remaining silent on this issue today, what will you have to compromise tomorrow? Every voice counts!
